Alamo Drafthouse in San Francisco is no longer a place of honor. On top of all the depressing automation of the experience and loss of what used to be amazing, beautifully curated pre-show content, the new food app seemed designed to prevent people from tipping the hard-working servers who have to run around in the dark. #sfba

That's a real shame. They used to be so great. I was excited to notice they have one in Arlington, but now I'm less excited.

@mattblaze I know the chain was bought, but I'm not certain if every theater will be affected the same way? They still show cool movies, but the whole "come early for pre-show shorts, get some food, and make an evening of it" element is gone.

That's really a loss. Comfortable seats and a decent menu are still a plus, I suppose. But the last time I went (in NYC), they made going a real event.

The Manhattan one holds (or held) the Kim's Video archive, which I regard as sacred artifacts. I hope it's passed on to someone who can take care of it.
