I recently got asked to join a Discord server. It flat out refused to allow me to do so on my phone, insisting I install the app.
So I switched "Desktop site" mode on, logged in, switched it off again, and it works fine.
Anyone pushing you to use an app when they have a functioning website is doing so to sell on your data. DDG App Tracking Protection helps, but isn't a panacea.
